NEVADA DISTRICT ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS GOVERNOR LOMBARDO’S CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSION TO ADDRESS CRITICAL PUBLIC SAFETY LEGISLATION

The Nevada District Attorneys Association (NVDAA) is voicing support for Governor Joe Lombardo’s Safe Streets and Neighborhoods Act and call for a special session to address critical public safety needs in Nevada. NVDAA leadership continues to be in favor of this Act that seeks to enact provisions related to public safety, juvenile justice, pretrial release, and opioid use disorder. NVDAA President and Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks issued the following statement on behalf of the Association in support of this legislation.

“Nevadans deserve to feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods, and schools. The Governor’s Safe Streets and Neighborhoods Act is a responsible, common-sense approach to protecting our communities by addressing serious and repeat criminal behavior. It strengthens protections for victims, ensures accountability for offenders, and reflects the shared values of safety and fairness that unite Nevadans across the political spectrum,” said Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks. “This is meaningful reform that will help build safer streets and stronger neighborhoods in every corner of our state.”
