Brian was raised in Hawthorne, Nevada. After graduating from Mineral County High School, Brian attended Indiana University before earning his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1983. Brian served six years in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana. After a few years in private practice in Indianapolis he returned to Reno and worked for Swafford, Hoffman, Test and Guinan.
In 1994 he was elected Mineral County District Attorney and served one term. He moved to Pahrump in 1998 and served with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office for twelve years as the Missing Children’s Coordinator and Fraud Director before serving one term as Nye County District Attorney from 2010-2014. He then worked for the State Bar of Nevada and served for 6 years as the Director of Admissions before returning to the Office of the Nevada Attorney General.
He was again elected Nye County District Attorney in 2022. Brian has always been committed to public service. He currently serves as President of the Board for the Pioneer Territory CASA and is on the Board for Nevada Outreach (No To Abuse) and the Friends of the Belmont Courthouse.
