About District Attorney Pasquale
District Attorney Kevin Pasquale began his career as a prosecutor in Lyon County in 1985. Prior to this, he completed a clerkship with the 3rd District Court for the State of Nevada, which covered both Lyon and Churchill Counties at the time. He served three terms as Churchill County DA from 1987 to 1998 before entering private practice in 1999. While in private practice, DA Pasquale continued his service to Nevada as a special prosecutor assigned to Nye and Mineral Counties, as well as within the tribal courts. During this time, he handled numerous complex felony trials before returning to prosecution practice.
In 2011, DA Pasquale was selected to the position of Chief Deputy District Attorney by Humboldt County’s then District Attorney Mike McDonald. He served in this position until his eventual election to District Attorney in 2022. Combined, DA Pasquale has close to 30 years of legal experience and has dedicated his career to upholding the law within our rural communities. This experience has led to his having prosecuted cases in half the counties in the State, including having tried murder cases in three different Nevada counties.
As District Attorney, DA Pasquale prioritizes the concerns of victim of crime and has made consideration of their needs a focus of his administration. He strongly believes there must be an emphasis on consequences for law breaking when courts consider a defendant’s sentencing options. In addition, DA Pasquale has prioritized improving communications between law enforcement and partner agencies that work with the District Attorney’s Office. His office has seen first-hand how these efforts to improve communication have made noticeable impacts on crime rates, particularly property crimes within Humboldt County. By gathering a more complete picture of the defendant, prosecutors can make more informed decisions when pursuing criminal charges.
DA Pasquale lives in Paradise Valley, 40 miles north of Winnemucca where he is also a volunteer fireman.
